Head of Hardware Design (AI)

Salary: $245,000–$270,000 per year, plus equity

hirify.global is building an AI hardware engineer and an ECAD platform that enables users to create manufacturable circuit boards from natural-language prompts.

What you will do

• Define product requirements and specifications for ECAD capabilities including placement and routing, constraint management, stackups, impedance control, DRC/DFM, manufacturing outputs, and prototyping workflows.
• Partner with AI/ML teams to define hardware design best practices, guardrails, datasets, evaluation harnesses, and reviews of AI-generated designs.
• Build and scale the Hardware Design function, initially managing two reports while developing responsibilities, processes, reference designs, training, and feedback loops.
• Lead quick-turn prototypes from schematic through bring-up, including signal integrity, power integrity, power, and thermal validation.
• Translate customer feedback and real-world engineering requirements into product strategy, prioritization, and improved user workflows.
• Collaborate with software engineering, product leadership, customers, manufacturers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Extensive electrical engineering experience building complex electronics that shipped at scale, such as smartphones, wearables, high-performance computing, networking, or robotics products.
• Broad and deep expertise across RF and wireless, EMI/EMC and ESD, power electronics, analog and mixed-signal design, high-speed digital, and SI/PI.
• Strong PCB and stackup expertise, including controlled impedance, differential-pair tuning, length matching, advanced via strategies, HDI, panelization, and fabrication rules.
• Hands-on experience with DFM/DFT, factory and test operations, mass production, bring-up, debugging, quality, and yield optimization.
• Meaningful experience with multiple ECAD platforms and simulation tools, plus laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, VNAs, logic analyzers, and power analyzers.
• Ability to operate as both a hands-on engineer and manager, hire and mentor team members, write clear specifications, and communicate with senior leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience in a larger technical organization or at a world-class hardware company.
• Prior design-partner or customer-facing experience in product management, applications, field engineering, or a related cross-functional role.
• Practical exposure to AI/ML, including prompting, evaluation, data curation or labeling, or ML-assisted design tools.
• Public hardware designs, technical talks, or related work to share.
