TL;DR
Hardware Systems Technical Lead (AI): Developing board and system solutions for silicon photonics-based AI accelerators and large-scale interconnect platforms with an accent on PCBAs, high-speed interfaces, and hardware lifecycle ownership. Focus on integrating and validating complex systems from bench bring-up through production, resolving cross-functional electrical, mechanical, firmware, and software dependencies, and mentoring hardware engineers.
Location: Mountain View, California, United States; flexible hybrid workplace model.
Salary: $217,000–$256,000 USD base salary annually, plus equity and other compensation.

What you will do
- Define and develop hardware systems for photonic AI infrastructure applications with system architects and technical leads.
- Own hardware systems development from concept through production.
- Define, develop, and review PCBAs against electrical, power, and interface requirements.
- Lead hardware integration, verification, and validation through bench bring-up, EVT/DVT, and production release.
- Coordinate with firmware, photonics, packaging, mechanical, IC, and software teams to resolve dependencies and tradeoffs.
- Maintain engineering documentation, research components and technologies, improve development practices, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and 12+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Track record of taking multiple complex hardware systems from concept through production.
- Deep knowledge of VRMs, high-speed SerDes, and interfaces including PCIe, Ethernet, SPI/QSPI, I3C, I2C, and JTAG.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary development, integration, and troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, and firmware domains.
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to work in ambiguous, dynamic environments.
- Ability to comply with federally mandated U.S. export control requirements.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI/HPC data center infrastructure, optical transceivers, or silicon photonics products.
- Systems Engineering experience with requirements traceability, FMEA, and EVT/DVT/PVT planning and execution.
- Familiarity with advanced packaging technologies and high-density PCB design.
