Senior / Staff Robotics Engineer, Manipulation (Robotics)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; 5 days per week in-office

Salary: $160,000–$265,000 USD per year, plus bonus and equity

What you will do

• Own and architect the arm autonomy stack for reaching, grasping, and manipulating objects safely.
• Develop constrained motion planners and smooth, jerk-limited trajectories for high-degree-of-freedom arms in dynamic environments.
• Implement whole-body control coordinating the mobile base and manipulator during workspace extension and heavy lifting.
• Design and tune impedance and admittance controllers using force feedback for safe physical interaction.
• Build teleoperation control mapping and assistance layers that translate operator intent into feasible, stable robot motions.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an M.S. degree with 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Deep knowledge of rigid-body kinematics, dynamics, 3D geometry, linear algebra, and Lie theory.
• Production-grade real-time C++ expertise, including modern C++ standards and libraries such as Eigen, KDL, or Pinocchio.
• Experience with motion-planning frameworks such as OMPL, MoveIt, TrajOpt, or similar.
• Practical experience implementing PID, impedance control, or model predictive control on real hardware.
• Availability for 5 days per week of in-office collaboration in Milpitas, California.

Nice to have

• Physics simulation experience with Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, or Gazebo.
• Familiarity with OSQP, Ipopt, Ceres, or other optimization solvers.
• Experience or interest in reinforcement learning or learning from demonstration for manipulation.
• Experience with EtherCAT, CAN, industrial communication buses, or motor drives.
