Senior Robotics Software Engineer (AI Robotics)

Location: In-office, 5 days a week in San Francisco, CA

Salary: $190,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Design and implement robot behaviors and task-level intelligence across the robotics stack.
• Integrate perception, planning, and control into reliable end-to-end robot execution.
• Build task orchestration and recovery behavior for nominal and edge-case scenarios.
• Use operational data and metrics to improve autonomy quality, task success, reliability, and uptime.
• Collaborate with hardware, AI, and infrastructure engineers on software–hardware integration and new robot platforms.
• Lead technical design reviews, make architecture decisions, mentor engineers and technicians, and diagnose production issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience building production robotics systems.
• Strong proficiency in Rust, Python, or C++.
• Experience designing and maintaining complex, high-reliability software systems.
• Experience integrating software with sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.
• Willingness to support production operations through an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience in warehousing, manufacturing, or logistics automation.
• Experience with real-time embedded systems, RTOS, or bare-metal firmware.
• Experience with safety-critical systems.
