Senior/Staff Algorithms Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Redwood City, United States; on-site

Salary: $170,000–$225,000 annually, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and improve robot task and action planning algorithms, from optimal control to Go solvers.
• Apply machine learning, search, discrete and continuous optimization, and reinforcement learning to sequential decision problems.
• Build sensor fusion, state estimation, and system models using RGB, depth, force-torque, encoder, telemetry, and human-input data.
• Improve packing, inventory movement, sorting, and short- and long-horizon robotics algorithms.
• Integrate algorithms with existing software infrastructure and implement maintainable, performant software.
• Collaborate with roboticists, machine learning engineers, mechanical engineers, data platform, simulation, robot operations, and product teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant industry or research experience.
• Strong knowledge of modern C++ and Python.
• Experience with convex, continuous, combinatorial, or other optimization methods.
• Experience with search strategies such as Monte Carlo Tree Search and Depth-First Search, plus constraint satisfaction, statistics, and state estimation.
• Familiarity with Linux, Git, system modeling, task planning, and motion planning.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Previous startup experience.
