Staff Process Development Engineer (Lithography)

Location: United Kingdom - Towcester, Northamptonshire; work is based at the Caswell semiconductor fabrication site and includes cleanroom activities.

What you will do

• Develop, qualify, sustain, and continuously improve photolithography and electron-beam lithography processes.
• Operate, qualify, and support scanners, steppers, mask aligners, coaters, developers, and e-beam systems.
• Improve critical dimension control, overlay accuracy, yield, process capability, cycle time, and equipment availability.
• Analyze process and equipment data using SPC, Six Sigma, DOE, Lean Manufacturing, and statistical methods.
• Support new product introduction, technology transfer, equipment qualification, fault finding, recovery, and performance improvement.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing, and R&D teams on yield, defect, and cost-reduction initiatives.

Requirements

• HNC/HND, bachelor's, master's, PhD, or equivalent industrial experience in semiconductor technology, materials science, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, electronic engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in semiconductor, photonics, compound semiconductor, MEMS, optoelectronics, silicon photonics, or another advanced manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma, DOE, Lean Manufacturing, root cause analysis, and manufacturing execution systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and independent working skills.
• Ability to work in a semiconductor cleanroom, perform wet etching processes, follow safety procedures, and work shifts when required.
• Competent PC user, including Microsoft Office, with attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of photonic integrated circuit manufacture.
• Experience in a high-technology manufacturing or production environment.
