Manager, Quality Control, Consumer Technology

Location: Devens, Massachusetts, United States; onsite in a 24/7 manufacturing environment

Annual base salary: $122,400–$168,300, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own daily operations and long-term scheduling for the QC Inspection Lab and Metallurgical Lab.
• Manage throughput, staffing, operational costs, and laboratory capacity during production ramps.
• Resolve measurement strategy, equipment downtime, and inspection bottlenecks as the primary technical advisor.
• Establish metrology standards, laboratory safety protocols, and IQ/OQ/PQ validation methods.
• Build KPIs such as backlog aging, cycle time, and first-pass yield, and provide data-driven visibility to program managers and executives.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, multi-shift training, audit readiness, and integration of inspection data with MES/ERP systems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in quality control, metrology, or inspection within high-precision manufacturing.
• 3+ years of formal management experience at M2 or Lead level, including multi-shift technical teams.
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T and metrology equipment including CMM, GOM/Blue Light, and NDT.
• Experience managing departmental budgets, staffing, and resource forecasts.
• Deep understanding of ISO 9001 or AS9100 requirements in a laboratory setting.
• Ability to translate complex quality data into actionable narratives for senior management.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling a QC or test laboratory in a high-growth startup-to-production environment.
• Lean Six Sigma certification and experience with 5S or Kaizen laboratory events.
• Experience with metal additive manufacturing inspection, metallurgy, and powder-bed fusion quality control.
• Experience automating inspection data workflows and integrating laboratory results into digital threads.
