TL;DR
Staff Additive Manufacturing Engineer (Metal Additive Manufacturing): Leading end-to-end production execution for complex metal additive manufacturing hardware with an accent on post-processing, wire EDM, furnace operations, metrology, and dimensional control. Focus on developing compensation strategies, solving cracking and distortion failures, improving yield and cycle time, and standardizing production processes across engineering, operations, and quality.

Location: Fremont, California, United States; on-site. U.S. citizenship is required due to government contract and security requirements.

Salary: $165,000–$188,000 per year, with potential bonus and equity compensation.

Company

hirify.global develops integrated metal additive manufacturing solutions combining Sapphire production printers, Flow print-preparation software, Assure quality systems, and manufacturing processes for titanium, Inconel, and aluminum parts.

What you will do

  • Lead end-to-end additive manufacturing execution from build completion through final shipment.
  • Develop and optimize post-processing strategies, including heat treatment, Solukon depowdering, wire EDM, scaling, and inspection.
  • Define scan-based metrology, dimensional control, shrink-rate databases, and geometry-specific compensation methods.
  • Provide Design for Additive Manufacturing leadership across part design, supports, build orientation, and process routes.
  • Investigate cracking, distortion, dimensional variation, and process instability, translating findings into standards and corrective actions.
  • Lead continuous improvement, NCR investigations, root cause analysis, and cross-functional manufacturing initiatives while mentoring engineers and technicians.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in metal additive manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, production engineering, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Deep expertise in production-scale metal powder bed fusion and downstream manufacturing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, dimensional inspection, scan-based metrology, data analysis, and process compensation.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives through experimentation, implementation, and standardization.
  • Ability to work on the manufacturing floor and influence long-term technical and operational strategy.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, space, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience with government contracts, export-controlled hardware, or regulated manufacturing standards.

Culture & Benefits

  • Healthcare coverage and 401(k) employer contributions.
  • Transparency through monthly all-hands meetings.
  • Team member appreciation awards.
  • Comprehensive benefits package with potential bonus and equity participation.
