Engineering Manager: Applied AI

hirify.global Automation builds a Git-powered version control and change management platform for industrial automation, including PLC and HMI code, used across manufacturing, oil and gas, and critical infrastructure.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a squad of senior full-stack engineers, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, weekly 1:1s, and performance feedback.
• Define the Applied AI team charter, ownership boundaries, roadmap, and delivery milestones with Engineering, Product, and Design.
• Guide the integration of GenAI capabilities into Source Control and DeviceLink and improve the hirify.global Copilot experience.
• Oversee AI-powered full-stack architecture across frontend experiences, backend services, APIs, LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, evaluation, model selection, and prompt and context strategies.
• Promote effective use of AI coding tools and establish engineering standards for CI/CD, testing, incident response, on-call practices, ADRs, and AI behavior evaluation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience and 1–2 years of formal or informal people leadership.
• Hands-on experience shipping AI-enabled products backed by LLM APIs, RAG, and related GenAI techniques.
• Strong technical foundation across frontend, backend, APIs, and data, with the ability to design reliable, scalable, and maintainable AI-powered systems.
• Daily fluency with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot, plus experience coaching engineers and helping others use them effectively.
• Strong communication, prioritization, product judgment, and ability to explain complex AI work to non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Production GenAI experience at scale, including evaluation frameworks, prompt and context engineering, retrieval pipelines, model selection, or safety guardrails.
• ML model training or fine-tuning experience and experience starting or growing an engineering team.
• Experience with TypeScript, Node, React, Go, C#, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS, or Datadog.
• Experience with developer tools, Git internals, CI/CD, DevOps platforms, B2B SaaS, industrial automation, manufacturing software, or IoT.
