Manufacturing Engineer – Module Frames (Solar Manufacturing)

Location: Remote in the USA, with 75% international and domestic travel

What you will do

• Drive concurrent engineering, DFM/DFMA, manufacturability reviews, and design-release recommendations for steel module-frame components and assemblies.
• Lead supplier industrialization, process and tooling readiness, prototype builds, factory trials, equipment commissioning, ramp-up, and on-site validation.
• Develop and deploy manufacturing technologies and best practices for roll forming, stamping, welding, casting, laser cutting, machining, coating, assembly, inspection, and automation.
• Lead value-engineering and cost-reduction initiatives involving design alternatives, tooling strategies, yield improvement, and cycle-time reduction.
• Define manufacturing-readiness deliverables, conduct supplier audits, and drive corrective actions for capacity, tooling, capability, quality, and asset-management risks.
• Review and approve engineering changes in the PLM system and lead root-cause and corrective-action activities using 8D, 5-Why, and Pareto methods.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 10+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering or industrialization experience.
• 10+ years of experience with design for manufacturing, steel manufacturing processes, or steel machinery, including factory equipment or CAPEX projects.
• 5+ years of experience serving large OEM customers in renewable energy, automotive, consumer electronics, consumer goods, or industrial manufacturing.
• Strong experience with complex steel roll forming and related fabrication processes, supplier readiness, tooling validation, and on-site troubleshooting.
• Experience with PLM-based engineering change management, SolidWorks or equivalent CAD collaboration, engineering drawings, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving.
• Excellent written and spoken English, ability to work with global cross-functional teams, occasional flexible schedules, and willingness to travel 75% internationally and domestically.

Nice to have

• Solar-tracker manufacturing experience.
• SSGB, PMP, Lean Manufacturing, Journeyman, or other industry certifications.
• Experience with domestic and offshore Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.
• Experience creating new manufacturing processes and adding rigor to released processes.
