TL;DR
Senior Staff DFM Manufacturing Engineer (Robotics): Translating next-generation robotic designs into high-precision machined components with an accent on DFM/DFA collaboration, machining capabilities, GD&T, and prototype production. Focus on optimizing part geometry, defining inspection protocols, solving process and quality issues, and improving precision-shop manufacturing flow.

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $135,000–$167,000 base pay per year.

What you will do

  • Lead DFM/DFA and DFX collaboration with design engineering teams for machined components.
  • Bridge design engineering and the internal Precision Shop by reconciling technical drawings, manufacturing constraints, and performance requirements.
  • Define inspection protocols and verify component quality using GD&T and dimensional standards.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for system and process issues affecting yield and part quality.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing improvements to reduce cycle times and improve material flow.
  • Create process documentation, setup sheets, and work instructions while mentoring junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process development, or advanced manufacturing in a machining-intensive environment.
  • Expert knowledge of precision machining, including multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and material constraints.
  • Strong CAD proficiency with SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar tools for fixture design and engineering drawing review.
  • Deep knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5, plus experience with process controls and quality systems such as 8D and RCCA.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Experience with robotics or aerospace NPI programs.
  • Advanced CAM and CNC programming experience.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing or rapid prototyping.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems such as Arena or Enovia.
  • Experience with cobots and automation systems such as Universal Robots or FANUC.
