Composites Technician (Spacecraft) (Composites Manufacturing): Manufacturing composite and metallic structures for the Mira spacecraft and Helios third-stage/kick-stage with an accent on lamination, assembly, bonding, drilling, and protective coatings. Focus on fabricating and integrating flight hardware, developing test panels with engineering, and executing tight-tolerance composite and metallic assembly work.

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under ITAR/EAR regulations.

Compensation: $35.00–$45.00 per hour, with potential stock options for full-time hires.

hirify.global is an in-space transportation company developing the Mira and Helios spacecraft for orbital transport, constellation deployment, precision reentry, and missions beyond Low Earth Orbit.

What you will do

  • Manufacture composite and metallic structures for the Mira spacecraft and Helios vehicle.
  • Perform filament winding, vacuum bagging, hand layup, oven curing, and layup tool preparation.
  • Assemble composite and metallic hardware through trimming, bonding, drilling, bolting, fastening, and insert installation.
  • Apply thermal protection materials, coatings, sealants, adhesives, and primers.
  • Operate cutting machines and shop tools, perform solvent cleaning, and complete electronic work buyoffs.
  • Work with engineering to develop test panels, optimize composite designs, and recommend improvements to work instructions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on hardware manufacturing experience in a production environment, specifically with composite materials.
  • Ability to perform drilling, reaming, countersinking, tapping, chamfering, and other precision operations with electric or pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints, including drawing symbols, flag notes, and section views.
  • Must be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain an applicable U.S. export license under ITAR/EAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of composites assembly experience on rockets, launch vehicles, satellites, or spacecraft.
  • Experience manufacturing COPVs from liners and overwrapping through testing and integration.
  • Experience with complex composite scarf repairs, ply splices, curved surfaces, and removal of bonded composite hardware.
