Composite Technician - Tooling

What you will do

• Manufacture composite tooling from plugs, masters, and patterns using wet layup, resin infusion, and prepreg lamination.
• Lay up fiberglass, carbon fiber, and other reinforcements; mix and apply resins, gel coats, and surface coats.
• Build vacuum bags, perform leak checks, manage consumables, and run assigned cure cycles.
• Prepare, finish, seal, release, repair, and maintain molds and tooling, including demolding, trimming, sanding, polishing, and surface treatment.
• Inspect tooling for defects, print-through, porosity, and dimensional issues while following drawings, travelers, and process documentation.
• Document materials, cure data, and production activities; collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality on process improvements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a technician in composites manufacturing and knowledge of industry best practices.
• Experience reading and interpreting layup books and process work instructions.
• Proficiency with calipers, scales, tape measures, torque wrenches, hand drills, and similar measuring and assembly tools.
• Strong attention to detail, urgency, problem-solving ability, and clear communication with leadership and engineering.
• Ability to learn new methods and technologies.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work hands-on in a production environment. Applicants must meet applicable U.S. ITAR authorization requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace or motorsport.
• Experience with ply cutting, mold finishing and release, mold maintenance, lamination, bagging, curing, demolding, trimming, or finishing.
• Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when required.
