TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer, Ground Systems (Aerospace): Developing and integrating satellite command-and-control ground systems for space operations with an accent on mission requirements, system architecture, and end-to-end verification. Focus on leading trade studies, integrating telemetry and tracking infrastructure, managing operational risks, and supporting testing and mission execution.

Location: Fully onsite at the Centennial, Colorado office; the position is listed for Denver, Colorado.

Base salary: $125,000–$235,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Define and document mission objectives, operational concepts, and system requirements for satellite command-and-control ground systems.
  • Translate mission and customer needs into engineering solutions and lead system trade studies, performance evaluations, and feasibility assessments.
  • Develop system-level integration and verification plans and conduct end-to-end testing.
  • Coordinate with subsystem teams to resolve integration challenges and support mission readiness, testing, and real-time mission execution.
  • Analyze reliability, safety, mission effectiveness, latency, data integrity, and operational risks.
  • Lead design reviews, develop mitigation strategies, and prepare technical documentation for customers and government agencies.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of full-lifecycle experience leading ground control systems through design, test, and verification.
  • Experience with space-to-ground systems using Type 1 encryption and with commercial or government Antenna-as-a-Service solutions.
  • Knowledge of the TCPED lifecycle, modulation and demodulation, and encoding and decoding in command-and-control signal chains.
  • Experience with deployment, integration, and ATO support under the RMF and NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
  • Strong systems architecture, technical leadership, analytical, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a DoD TS/SCI or TS/SAP security clearance; ITAR eligibility requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or applicable authorization.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering experience and a background in range certification, test readiness reviews, or safety boards.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and experience with defense or classified satellite ground systems.
  • Familiarity with U.S. DoD and NASA mission standards and experience working with government agencies, primes, or subcontractors.
