Staff II Software Engineer (SaaS)

Location: Pleasanton, United States; candidates within a reasonable commute to an office work onsite at least 3 days per week

Salary: $225,000–$282,000 per year, plus eligible incentive programs and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deliver features for cloud-based backend services and SaaS products.
• Build and optimize distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and service-oriented architectures.
• Establish software development practices covering integration, performance, security, testing, and maintainability.
• Investigate bottlenecks and technical gaps, drive improvements, and build consensus with peers and leadership.
• Mentor junior developers and promote a quality-first engineering culture.
• Support critical maintenance, deployments, releases, and occasional off-hours operations.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science with 5 years of experience, or an MS in Computer Science.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience building web applications, SaaS products, and RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and complex software architecture.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture, distributed systems, and advanced SQL, including stored procedures, data models, and transactional flows.
• Proficiency with AI-powered coding assistants and AI-based research, testing, documentation, code analysis, and problem-solving.
• Experience with automation, unit testing, process improvement, collaboration, and Agile development practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, open-source tools, and public cloud architectures such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience scaling high-performance systems and using Docker or Kubernetes.
• Experience with API gateways, identity management, authentication, messaging platforms, workflow orchestration, job scheduling, and search.
• Frontend experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, or JavaScript frameworks.
• FinTech or financial services experience.
