Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid for candidates based in the Austin or Atlanta metro area, with three days per week in the office

Salary: $186,000–$280,000 annual base salary, with potential variable compensation, equity, and benefits according to local policies.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable, reliable, secure, high-performance distributed systems.
• Drive cross-domain architectural discussions and contribute to the long-term technical roadmap.
• Integrate machine learning models and GenAI solutions into existing and future products.
• Evaluate AI infrastructure, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and modern development practices.
• Identify performance, scalability, and reliability issues while building tools and frameworks for safer delivery.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while collaborating with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders across global teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Expertise in back-end development with at least two server-side languages such as PHP, Go, Scala, Java, Python, or Ruby.
• Experience architecting and operating large-scale distributed systems, microservices, cloud platforms, and production observability tooling.
• Strong knowledge of consensus, consistency, fault tolerance, SQL, in-memory storage, testing, software design, and modern development practices.
• Proven technical leadership, mentorship, communication, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building product solutions with LLMs and GenAI technologies.
• Familiarity with vector databases, model orchestration tools, inference frameworks, and cloud-native ML workflows.
• Experience with SaaS or multi-tenant platforms operating at significant scale.
