Cryogenic Systems Engineer (Fusion)

What you will do

• Design and analyze integrated cooling systems for the Alpha stellarator and the broader cryogenic plant.
• Perform trade studies between components and use first-principles reasoning to validate system designs.
• Collaborate with electromagnetic, mechanical, and electrical engineers, as well as physicists.
• Conduct performance analysis and troubleshooting of cryogenic systems.
• Manage external work packages and act as an expert customer for procurement projects with suppliers.

Requirements

• Experience in cryogenic plant design, commissioning, and operation.
• Proven track record in designing cryogenic cooling systems using multi-physics and reduced-order modeling.
• Experience validating systems through a combination of simulations, testing, and prototyping.
• Demonstrated ability to lead external work packages and manage procurement projects.
• Strong systems thinking and technical judgment.
