Senior Manager Technical Projects (Laser Systems)

Location: Munich, Germany; willingness to travel is required, including customer-site installation and commissioning.

What you will do

• Own and steer 1–2 laser projects from initiation through delivery, maintaining integrated timelines, milestones, resources, and deliverables.
• Coordinate technical requirements, subsystem interfaces, integration points, decisions, open items, and resolutions across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Align departments, customers, suppliers, and external partners while translating design intent into physical implementation.
• Identify technical gaps, drive cross-functional resolution, and contribute to the laser system design approach.
• Coordinate procurement of laser components, optical systems, mechanical structures, and control hardware.
• Lead customer-site installation readiness, sequencing, commissioning, stakeholder communication, and project reporting.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience developing lasers or laser subsystems, or managing laser-related projects.
• Several years of experience managing complex technical or engineering projects, ideally EPCC-type projects.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing system integration dependencies.
• Ability to work across international teams, time zones, cultures, engineering disciplines, and matrix organizations.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into decision-ready information.

Nice to have

• Experience with EPCC-type projects covering engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Experience in high-power laser systems and industrialization.
• Interest in following field advancements and attending conferences.
