Staff Software Engineer (Backend)

Location: Remote - Seattle Metro; candidates within a reasonable commute to a hirify.global office must work in the office at least 3 days per week.

Salary: $180,000–$226,000 per year, plus eligible short-term and long-term incentive programs.

What you will do

• Design and build extensible connectors for ERP, banking, payments, tax, and subledger systems.
• Develop, troubleshoot, maintain, optimize, and scale cloud-based backend services, frameworks, and platform components.
• Lead technical design, architecture, requirements analysis, estimation, development, testing, and delivery of distributed services.
• Drive decisions involving scalability, performance, security, maintainability, and extensibility.
• Establish engineering practices, write clean and testable code, and support automation and quality improvements.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, identify bottlenecks, and provide critical deployment and release support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of professional experience building highly available, multi-tenant SaaS backend platforms, frameworks, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
• Expertise in one or more object-oriented languages: C#, Java, or C++.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, design patterns, concurrency, multithreading, security, and scalable code development.
• Experience leading architecture and code reviews for distributed systems and event-driven architectures, with fluency in SQL, NoSQL, data modeling, and transactional flows.
• Experience with Agile development, automation, unit testing, data integration, and ETL tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with continuous delivery, infrastructure as code, and public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of internet security in software design and code.
• Experience delivering platform services such as API gateways, identity management, authentication, messaging, workflow orchestration, job scheduling, or search.
• FinTech or financial services experience, including ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft.
• Open source contribution experience.
