Ocean Import Operations Specialist

Location: Philippines; fully remote work from home. Night shift aligned with US EST time.

What you will do

• Coordinate pre-arrival shipment documents, steamship line follow-ups, ISF confirmations, arrival notices, freight invoices, and accurate billing.
• Coordinate customs clearance, resolve exams and holds including AMS and PGA issues, and track demurrage and detention Last Free Days.
• Arrange trucking and delivery appointments, manage special delivery requirements and exceptions, and obtain approval for additional costs.
• Monitor empty container returns, calculate and bill detention or per diem charges, and dispute incorrect carrier invoices.
• Reconcile carrier and vendor invoices, issue debit notes, collect additional charges, obtain proof of delivery, and close shipment files.
• Act as the primary customer contact by providing shipment updates, answering questions, and resolving operational issues.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in Ocean Import Operations, with both FCL and LCL experience required.
• Strong understanding of US import procedures, including ISF, AMS, PGA holds, customs clearance, demurrage, and detention.
• Hands-on experience coordinating with steamship lines, customs brokers, truckers, and overseas agents.
• Experience tracking and managing Last Free Day for both demurrage and detention.
• Experience handling delivery appointments, trucking arrangements, delivery exceptions, and cost approvals.
• Proficiency with freight forwarding systems or TMS.
• Availability for night-shift work aligned with US EST time.
• Comfort with productivity monitoring tools such as Insightful.
• Excellent communication skills, a strong customer service mindset, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple files in a fast-paced environment.
• Fiber internet is required, with a recommended speed of 100/50 Mbps, plus backup internet of at least 20 Mbps and a quiet, suitable home workspace.
