Mechatronics Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; onsite five days a week

What you will do

• Own mechatronic systems from initial concept through prototyping, testing, validation, and production handover.
• Design hardware for autonomous masonry systems, material supply, lift platforms, precision brick placement, and constrained construction environments.
• Select and integrate actuators, sensors, motors, solenoids, encoders, microcontrollers, and related electronics.
• Build and test rapid proof-of-concept prototypes, including parts fabricated through 3D printing, CNC milling, and turning.
• Debug and stress-test robotic systems in the workshop, office, and on live construction sites across the Netherlands.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, controls, vision, electronics, and production engineers to deliver robust and scalable systems.

Requirements

• Ability to design hardware and mechatronic systems from scratch.
• Experience developing rapid prototypes and taking validated prototypes into production.
• Experience integrating and validating actuators and electronics.
• Ability to write or adapt simple embedded code using platforms such as Arduino or ESP32.
• Experience producing clean CAD in Onshape, technical drawings, documentation, and production handover materials.
• B.Sc. in electrical, mechatronics, or robotics engineering, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience in early-stage startups or top student team competitions.
• Experience leading broader problem spaces with a small multidisciplinary team.
