Lead Software Engineer (Embedded Cryptographic Software)

Location: Remote within the UK, France, Netherlands, Spain, or Belgium; occasional travel to company offices is required. Flexible hybrid working is also available.

What you will do

• Lead the design and delivery of application and embedded software IP projects from initial conception through customer delivery.
• Plan development cycles, allocate work, track progress, and coordinate delivery with engineering leaders and project managers.
• Manage, hire, onboard, train, mentor, and develop a software engineering team.
• Define architectures for complex algorithmic and system-level solutions and lead architectural reviews.
• Work with verification engineers on verification and test plans, tooling, infrastructure, lint, and implementation reports.
• Collaborate with hardware, product vulnerability, and customer-facing teams on integration and technical delivery.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in software design and/or verification, with a degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Expert-level C experience in embedded environments and experience building software IP blocks from specification through customer delivery.
• Strong understanding of cryptographic algorithms, protocols, and key management systems.
• Ability to specify architectural solutions across multiple technical domains and coordinate complex development cycles.
• Strong written and verbal communication, mentoring, planning, and team leadership skills.
• Ability to work remotely or hybrid from the UK, France, Netherlands, Spain, or Belgium, with occasional office travel.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with post-quantum cryptography standards and NIST PQC protocols.
• Rust experience in embedded environments and confidence with Python.
• Arm, RISC-V, software/hardware co-design, or side-channel security countermeasure experience.
• Experience with GitLab CI, continuous integration, testing, and cross-functional software team management.
