TL;DR
Senior Technical Project Manager (Aerospace): Planning and overseeing the development, integration, and testing of complex aerospace systems with an accent on technical execution, safety-critical verification, and aviation regulatory compliance. Focus on coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams, mitigating schedule risks, maintaining technical documentation, and evaluating AI-assisted scheduling and resource-planning tools.

Location: Sunnyvale, California; on-site Monday through Friday across two nearby California locations. The role supports remote staff at offices in Nevada and Ohio. Relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 per year, plus annual bonus and benefits.

What you will do

  • Develop and manage project plans, scope, schedules, and milestones for aerospace system development and testing.
  • Define technical deliverables with subject matter experts and coordinate execution across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Lead hardware integration, software testing, and safety-critical system verification.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges while proactively mitigating schedule risks.
  • Maintain system design records, testing protocols, technical documentation, and milestone tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and evaluate AI-assisted scheduling and resource-planning tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing technical projects in aerospace, aviation, or related engineering fields.
  • Proficiency with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, or Wrike.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, technical communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work on-site Monday through Friday in California.
  • Criminal background check and drug test clearance where applicable.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in engineering or project management.
  • Experience managing full development lifecycles, including PDR/CDR design reviews, integration, and testing.
  • Experience deploying project management or resource-planning tools that improved schedule visibility and coordination.
  • Familiarity with AI tools for scheduling, resource planning, or documentation workflows.
  • PMP, CAPM, or similar certification.
