Security Technology Specialist (Genetec)

What you will do

• Administer Genetec Security Center, including the Synergis ACS and Omnicast VMS modules.
• Configure and maintain access control hardware, credentials, IP cameras, video storage, retention policies, and system health monitoring.
• Manage access changes, software updates, patches, firmware upgrades, audits, alarms, and system documentation.
• Lead security technology installations and expansions from project planning through commissioning.
• Coordinate third-party integrators and service vendors for installations, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting.
• Maintain intrusion detection, intercom, visitor management, and other physical security technology systems, including participation in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in IT, security management, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with physical security systems in a corporate or industrial environment.
• Genetec Security Center experience and Genetec Certified Technician (GCT) or Genetec Certified Professional (GCP) certification are required, or certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Experience with IP camera systems, access control hardware such as HID or Allegion, and physical security networking fundamentals.
• Ability to manage projects through planning, installation, commissioning, and documentation.
• Strong independent troubleshooting, hardware diagnostics, network diagram interpretation, documentation, and prioritization skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-security, research, life sciences, or industrial facilities.
• Familiarity with PSIM, integrated security management, or visitor management platforms.
• Experience managing security integrators and vendor relationships.
• Knowledge of physical security design, camera coverage planning, access control zone mapping, VLANs, PoE, TCP/IP, DNS, ASIS, NIST, or ISO standards.
