Systems Engineer

Location: Herndon, Virginia, United States; in-office position

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

• Provide 24x7 operational support, including general administration, Tier II/Tier III troubleshooting, security patching, operating system upgrades, monitoring, and periodic on-call rotation.
• Administer Windows servers, storage platforms, virtual environments, email systems, SharePoint, and datacenter infrastructure.
• Design and implement hardware, software, configuration, security, and operational standards, policies, and procedures.
• Evaluate infrastructure strategies and solutions, manage technology projects, budgets, vendors, deadlines, and milestones.
• Implement technical controls for cybersecurity initiatives and collaborate on risk assessment, response, and remediation.
• Rack and stack server and storage hardware, document best practices, and provide project updates to IT leadership.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on IT systems administration or systems engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, IIS, WSUS, clustering, and related services.
• Experience with Exchange on-premises or hybrid environments, SMTP, IMAP, email authentication, and filtering.
• Knowledge of storage technologies, backup and disaster recovery, high availability, fault tolerance, monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, negotiate with vendors, and prepare formal documentation.
• Ability to work in the office in Herndon, Virginia, and support periodic 24x7 on-call operations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or Dynamics NAV and Microsoft stack licensing.
• Experience with datacenter buildouts, Cisco networking and firewalls, VMware vSphere, NetApp, Rubrik, or Zoom Enterprise.
• Knowledge of industry security standards, audits, and certifications.
