Senior Legal Counsel (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Lead negotiation and risk allocation for complex, high-value commercial agreements, including strategic partnerships, government-funded projects, IP licensing, and enterprise customer and supplier contracts.
• Draft bespoke contracts and templates for the evolving quantum computing ecosystem.
• Own significant transactions, strategic legal projects, and cross-functional initiatives with R&D, Operations, Commercial, and HR.
• Develop legal risk, prioritisation, intake, and self-service frameworks, including contract automation tools.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and deliver internal training to manage related risks.
• Lead compliance initiatives covering data, export control, and AI governance.

Requirements

• 6+ years of post-qualification experience as a solicitor in England and Wales or equivalent, with significant in-house experience.
• Proven experience leading high-value commercial transactions and strategic legal projects from inception to completion.
• Deep expertise in commercial contract law and strong business acumen.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including advising senior stakeholders.
• Leadership and mentoring experience with legal and non-legal colleagues.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise in a fast-paced environment, and build relationships with executives, regulators, and external counsel.

• Experience in a science, technology, or research-led organisation.
• Experience supporting internal compliance or training initiatives.
• Familiarity with R&D-heavy or IP-sensitive environments.
