Legal Counsel (Data Protection)

Location: Hybrid, based between home and the Dundee headquarters in Scotland, United Kingdom, with regular office attendance.

What you will do

• Lead commercial contract reviews and negotiations, providing practical, business-focused legal advice.
• Act as a trusted legal adviser to stakeholders across the organisation.
• Support the protection and management of the intellectual property portfolio.
• Advise on data protection, governance, compliance and risk matters.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects and strategic business initiatives.
• Help implement legal technology and improve legal processes.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Qualification in Scottish and/or English law. Dual qualification is advantageous but not essential.
• Experience in commercial law, data protection, intellectual property, governance or risk.
• Strong relationship-building, stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills.
• Sound commercial judgement, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and confidence in constructive challenge.
• Interest in contributing beyond the legal function and understanding broader business objectives.
