TL;DR
Electrical Test Engineer (Aerospace): Planning and executing electrical qualification and acceptance testing for power supplies, power electronics, and integrated LRUs with an accent on EMI/EMC, power quality, environmental testing, and data acquisition. Focus on designing test setups, analyzing electrical failure modes, witnessing domestic and international lab tests, and driving corrective actions with design and firmware engineering.

Location: Torrance, California; moving to a new facility in Hawthorne, California in summer. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents, and U.S. Person status is required under ITAR.

Salary: $110,000–$130,000 base salary plus equity

What you will do

  • Plan, write, and execute electrical qualification and acceptance test procedures for power supplies, power electronics, and integrated LRUs.
  • Develop DO-160G and MIL-STD-810H test plans and reports covering EMI/EMC, power input, voltage spikes, electrical performance, and environmental testing.
  • Design and build electrical test setups, instrumentation, harnesses, and data-acquisition configurations.
  • Execute and analyze EMI/EMC emissions and susceptibility testing using in-house capabilities.
  • Manage outsourced laboratory testing and witness tests at customer and partner facilities in the United States and internationally.
  • Analyze test data, identify electrical failure modes, and drive root-cause and corrective actions with design and firmware engineering.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of qualification or environmental test experience with aerospace, defense, or comparable hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810 electrical and EMI/EMC test campaigns.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, spectrum and EMI receivers, electrical test instrumentation, DAQ systems, and data analysis.
  • Strong technical writing skills for test plans and reports.
  • U.S. Person status and the ability to travel internationally with a valid passport are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with power electronics, motor drives, power supplies, or motor-control hardware.
  • Deep EMI/EMC testing experience, including chamber or tent operation.
  • Familiarity with CANbus and digital communication interfaces.
  • Exposure to Part 23 and Part 25 certification environments.
  • Experience with third-party test laboratories and customer acceptance testing.
