Automotive Painter

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina, United States; daily onsite attendance required. Occasional in-person company events and travel may be required.

Salary: $24.00–$31.00 per hour, plus an additional $0.75 per hour after six months. Full-time, non-exempt schedule of approximately 40 hours per week with overtime eligibility and an annual performance bonus program.

What you will do

• Prepare vehicle surfaces through sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming.
• Mix and match paint using approved formulas, computerized color management systems, paint scales, and spectrophotometer technology.
• Apply basecoats, clearcoats, Tutone finishes, and other paint systems using spray guns and approved techniques.
• Inspect painted surfaces, identify defects, and perform rework including sanding, polishing, buffing, and refinishing.
• Operate paint booths and heat-assisted drying and curing systems while performing minor cosmetic repairs.
• Follow manufacturing, quality, environmental, and safety procedures; support production goals, process improvement, waste reduction, and team training.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of vehicle painting experience in automotive collision repair, vehicle manufacturing, or an OEM production environment.
• Demonstrated experience with surface preparation, spray gun operation, paint systems, color matching, paint correction, and defect removal.
• Ability to perform minor repairs to scratches, dents, and other surface imperfections.
• Ability to follow standardized work instructions, identify non-standard conditions, and escalate issues when needed.
• Commitment to workplace safety and effective communication with production, quality, supervisors, and cross-functional partners.
• Willingness to work any shift, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, and to support onboarding and training.

Nice to have

• Vocational certificate in Paint Repair, Collision Repair, or a related field.
• I-CAR Refinish Technician Certification.
