Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: London, UK; at least 4 days per week from the Kings Cross offices, plus one flexible work-from-home day

Salary: £94K–£120K plus equity

hirify.global develops non-invasive neuromonitoring technology for clinical brain monitoring and patient care.

What you will do

• Integrate an on-device LLM into the hirify.global One neuromonitoring system and connect it to live neuro-signals.
• Build the query and response layer used by clinicians.
• Develop model evaluation, prompting, and guardrail approaches to ensure safe and consistent clinical outputs.
• Optimise inference latency, memory usage, and throughput on constrained hardware.
• Design and develop medical device software in line with IEC 62304 and ISO 14971.
• Maintain fleet reliability and collaborate with hardware, product, and clinical teams to resolve issues.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong C++ skills with Python experience.
• Practical experience with LLM prompting, guardrails, RAG, evaluation, and model behaviour.
• Experience integrating a model meaningfully into a real product close to the user experience.
• Experience integrating third-party libraries or complex components into performance-sensitive or resource-constrained systems.
• Strong Git and CI/CD skills, with an ability to reason about latency, memory, and throughput.

Nice to have

• Experience with edge or on-device AI on constrained hardware.
• Hands-on experience with llama.cpp or similar tools and small on-device models such as Qwen, Gemma, MedGemma, or custom models.
• Hardware exposure, AWS cloud experience, or experience in a regulated or safety-critical industry.
