TL;DR
R&D Technican (Electrical/Electronic) – Technical Center Workshop (Automotive E/E): Diagnosing, repairing, and commissioning vehicle electrical and electronic systems for prototype and validation vehicles with an accent on wiring harnesses, ECUs, sensors, and networked systems. Focus on solving CAN/LIN/Ethernet communication faults, flashing and configuring control modules, calibrating sensors, and verifying repairs through functional drives.

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina, United States; daily in-person attendance required. Occasional travel may be required.

Salary: $26.44–$33.65 per hour, with an additional $0.75 per hour after six months. Full-time, non-exempt position with a 40-hour normal schedule, overtime eligibility, and an annual performance bonus program.

What you will do

  • Support vehicle build, rework, validation, and workshop activities with a focus on electrical and electronic systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors, control modules, and networked vehicle systems.
  • Perform soldering, splicing, crimping, pinning, depinning, connector repair, and harness rework.
  • Use OEM scan tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and breakout tools to resolve electrical and communication faults across CAN, LIN, and Ethernet networks.
  • Flash, program, configure, and update ECUs; commission software, calibrate sensors, and support ADAS-related systems.
  • Document diagnostics and repairs, install measurement equipment, perform validation drives, and collaborate with engineering, validation, and test teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of professional automotive experience focused on electrical and electronic systems.
  • Hands-on experience repairing wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors, and electronic control modules.
  • Experience with soldering, splicing, crimping, pinning, advanced diagnostic tools, and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with CAN, LIN, and Ethernet vehicle networks, vehicle software commissioning, and sensor calibration.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles for functional verification and testing.

Nice to have

  • Automotive technology, electrical engineering technology, or related certification.
  • OEM or industry electrical diagnostic training or certification.
  • Experience with ADAS, manufacturing or production facilities, vehicle integration software, and data collection tools.
  • Experience with hybrid or electric vehicles and high-voltage systems.
