Senior Research Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: Onsite in Morris Plains, New Jersey, Monday through Friday

Salary: $96,800–$145,200 annual base pay, plus target annual cash incentive of 10%.

What you will do

• Drive invention and innovation for priority markets by developing new technologies and platforms.
• Design scoping experiments, trials, testing, characterization, and analyses to demonstrate feasibility.
• Summarize results, provide recommendations, and support R&D projects and business improvements.
• Develop prototypes and contribute to systems integration across hardware, software, networks, and external services.
• Communicate invention disclosure processes and collaborate with legal teams on patent filings and trade-secret protection.
• Identify required equipment and capabilities while maintaining a safe, organized workspace.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience or master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Research and Development experience in electrical, mechanical, control, systems engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with wireless systems and protocols such as BLE, WiFi, RFID, NFC, or UWB.
• Experience with microcontrollers and SoC embedded processors.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Circuit layout design, prototyping, and functionality testing experience.
• Programming and firmware development experience with C, C++, or Python.
• Smart sensor development and integration experience.
• Experience integrating complex hardware, software, network, and external-service systems.
