Systems Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Boston office in Charlestown, Massachusetts; minimum 4 days per week in the office, with additional onsite days as project demands require

What you will do

• Develop system-level schematics and diagrams integrating motors, sensors, actuators, pneumatics, and power distribution.
• Research unfamiliar technologies, conduct trade studies, and define subsystem solutions for robotics products.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors on custom equipment and define control strategies for system integration.
• Design pneumatic and fluidic controls, including manifolds, routing, plumbing architecture, and safety strategies.
• Test pumps, valves, flow sensors, chillers, heaters, and other critical components against performance, reliability, and throughput requirements.
• Support installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and ongoing operations in collaboration with mechanical, software, and technician teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years in systems engineering or system integration within industrial robotics, automation, or a similar industry.
• Experience working with third-party vendors to develop custom equipment and engineering solutions.
• Proficiency in system maps, wiring diagrams, pneumatic and plumbing diagrams, flowcharts, CAD, control-system wiring, and software scripting.
• Understanding of electromechanical systems, controls architecture, pneumatic and fluidic controls, component datasheets, and system design from the ground up.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, communicate technical requirements, evaluate components, and travel occasionally for commissioning and support.
