Firmware Engineer (STM32)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; majority on-site presence required, at least 4 out of 5 days

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 annual base salary plus equity

What you will do

• Write C firmware for STM32 microcontrollers, including motor controllers.
• Derive requirements, design and architect solutions, implement firmware, and verify completed systems.
• Bring up new hardware and debug board-level issues with motor-control and electrical engineers.
• Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, datasheets, and schematics to diagnose signal and communication issues.
• Support the mechanical team with actuator design and verification.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required to support defense projects and meet regulatory requirements.
• 2–3 years of embedded C programming experience.
• Experience with ThreadX, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or a similar RTOS.
• Experience with at least 2–3 communication interfaces, including SPI, I2C, CAN, UART, Ethernet, or BiSS-C.
• Experience with embedded peripherals such as ADCs, timers, Flash, EEPROM, or FRAM, plus JTAG/SWD debugging.
• Ability to read schematics and experience using oscilloscopes or logic analyzers.

Nice to have

• DO-178C or DAL certification experience.
• Motor-control experience with FOC, space-vector modulation, or current loops.
• Experience with Hall sensors, incremental encoders, or absolute encoders.
