Software Engineer (Rust)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; hybrid work schedule based in the Reston office

Salary: $108,900–$147,300 annual base salary, with potential discretionary bonus and stock awards depending on role eligibility.

What you will do

• Design and implement new capabilities for the ATLAS platform.
• Build horizontally scalable, high-performance, and highly available systems.
• Deploy platform changes using CI/CD principles.
• Improve productivity through automation and infrastructure engineering.
• Apply automated testing, code reviews, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
• Collaborate with an agile team to mitigate technical risks and deliver reliable software.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant software development experience, including 2+ years using a system-level programming language such as C, C++, or Rust.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and object-oriented design.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins, Groovy, and GitHub.
• Experience with or willingness to learn Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and OpenStack.
• Proficiency with Linux and Python or a similar scripting language.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience; strong troubleshooting and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• DNS protocol-level knowledge.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to behavior-driven testing frameworks such as Python Behave or Cucumber.
