Staff Electrical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; hybrid work structure with 25% travel.

Salary: $164,000–$212,000 per year, plus stock and benefits.

What you will do

• Own electrical design projects for industrial automation and robotics equipment.
• Manage the PCBA design lifecycle from requirements gathering through design, prototyping, validation, and production testing.
• Document design concepts, trade studies, test procedures, and assembly instructions.
• Collaborate with mechanical, mechatronics, systems, software, firmware, and operations teams to develop robust electrical systems.
• Work with contract manufacturers to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
• Lead safety-compliant electronics work, conduct bench and in-system testing, and support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
• Expertise in analog and digital circuit design, high-speed design, component selection, PCB schematic capture, and layout.
• Experience with EMC design, radiated-emissions compliance, PCBA validation, electro-mechanical integration, and production test processes.
• Experience with CAN, Ethernet, RS485, SPI, or similar industrial communications protocols, as well as motor control, PLCs, and sensors.
• Proficiency with Altium or Cadence and common electrical laboratory equipment.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of professional experience and prior startup experience.
• Familiarity with IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and functional-safety design.
• Advanced Altium Designer proficiency and experience with PLC families and architectures.
• Experience with robotics, motors, electromechanical components, and high-volume PCBA manufacturing.
