TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer (Robotics): Designing and integrating reliable electrical systems for robotic automation products from concept through volume manufacturing with an accent on system architecture, circuit design, signal integrity, and hardware compliance. Focus on developing schematics and harnesses, validating electrical performance, troubleshooting production systems, and integrating motors, sensors, controllers, and communication protocols.
Location: Redwood City, United States; on-site
Salary: $135,000–$172,000 per year

What you will do
- Own the architecture and design of electrical systems for robotic automation products, including component selection and integration.
- Design circuits, schematics, wiring configurations, and harnesses with attention to signal integrity, grounding, safety, assembly, and serviceability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation describing design decisions and trade-offs.
- Develop and execute electrical system testing with Hardware Test engineers and use results to drive improvements.
- Support product installations at customer facilities, including troubleshooting and training.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, vendors, ODMs, and contract manufacturers on product integration and volume manufacturing.
Requirements
- BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of related experience, including taking products from conception to volume manufacturing.
- Experience with motors, servo drivers, sensors, robot arms, controllers, and communication protocols such as EtherCAT and CANBUS.
- Experience with analog and digital circuits, high-speed signals, filtering, high-voltage circuits, PCBAs, and control-system troubleshooting.
- Experience with eCAD tools, hardware certification and compliance standards including FCC, NFPA 79, UL, CE, and IEC.
- Experience with laboratory test instruments and PLM systems such as Arena, Agile, or Teamcenter, plus strong technical writing and communication skills.
Nice to have
- Power electronics design experience, including motor drives, SMPS, and inverters.
- Practical experience designing battery-powered systems.
- Experience with industrial automation electronics, including PLCs, functional safety modules, and safety sensors.
