Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer (Drones)

Location: Weiterstadt, Germany; on-site collaboration, testing, and integration are required, so the role cannot be performed fully remotely.

What you will do

• Design, develop, validate, and sustain electronic hardware for drone platforms and subsystems.
• Create schematics, select components, and support PCB design with attention to performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Perform hardware testing, debugging, root cause analysis, and design verification.
• Support prototyping, product validation, manufacturing introduction, and production release.
• Investigate field issues, implement design improvements, and manage component lifecycle and obsolescence.
• Collaborate with firmware, software, manufacturing, and quality teams while maintaining technical documentation and engineering change control.

Requirements

• Diploma or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or Mechatronics.
• At least 8 years of experience in electrical hardware development and embedded systems, preferably in aerospace or automotive.
• Expertise in complex PCBA design, component selection, schematics, layouts, and prototype manufacturing.
• Experience with EMI-compliant design, troubleshooting, design analysis, and optimization.
• Knowledge of signal-processing interfaces such as UART, CAN, SPI, I²C, or Ethernet; wireless interfaces such as LTE or GNSS; or ARM Cortex microcontrollers.
• Fluent English is required. Experience with EDA tools, preferably Altium, and airborne or automotive standards such as DO-254 and DO-160 is expected.

Nice to have

• German language skills.
• Experience with Git and embedded programming in C, C++, or Python.
