TL;DR
System Engineer, Infotainment Systems (Automotive): Defining, developing, integrating, and validating vehicle infotainment and display functions such as navigation, off-road mapping, energy applications, CarPlay, Android Auto, and casting with an accent on end-to-end functional ownership and EE/SW integration. Focus on managing system requirements, developing logical and physical architectures, applying MBSE/MBD with MIL/SIL/HIL simulation, and delivering validated functions across vehicle program milestones.

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office. Regular in-person meetings and occasional travel are required. The role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.

Salary: $140,000–$170,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Own the end-to-end functional architecture of vehicle infotainment and display systems, including navigation, off-road mapping, routing, energy applications, CarPlay, Android Auto, and casting.
  • Define and manage functional and non-functional system and subsystem requirements across electrical, software, mechanical, and application domains.
  • Coordinate system engineers, domain experts, hardware teams, application teams, and cross-functional teams to integrate complex infotainment functions.
  • Lead development, validation, design reviews, signoffs, and delivery of assigned functions through prototype builds, design verification, product validation, and vehicle launch gates.
  • Develop component and system designs, specifications, test methods, DFMEA, design verification, and product validation activities for complex mechatronic systems.
  • Apply model-based engineering and simulation methods, including MIL, SIL, and HIL, while resolving issues through first-principles analysis.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, or software engineering, plus 10+ years of experience.
  • Extensive experience with automotive systems or mechatronic products, including body, infotainment, drive, or energy systems.
  • Subject-matter expertise in systems engineering, multi-domain physics, complex systems design, and electrical/software integration.
  • Experience with embedded software, electrical systems, wiring, and power distribution units.
  • Familiarity with A2B, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, LVDS, and vehicle network tools such as CANalyzer and CANoe.
  • Ability to work onsite in Charlotte 4–5 days per week and attend in-person meetings and company events.
