Staff Field Integration And Quality Engineer (Electric Vehicles)

Location: Palo Alto, United States; on-site. Travel up to 50% of the time is required for collaboration, site visits, and field failure investigations.

Salary: $200,000–$220,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

What you will do

• Lead integration of drive units, batteries, inverters, displays, and low-voltage electronics during new product introduction.
• Troubleshoot vehicle faults using CAN tools, logs, DTC decoding, isolation tests, and structured re-tests.
• Support pilot and fleet operations, including vehicle preparation, telematics commissioning, uptime tracking, and OTA firmware updates.
• Analyze telemetry and field returns to identify reliability trends, root causes, repair needs, and design or diagnostic improvements.
• Build telemetry data visualizations and dashboards, and maintain service troubleshooting documentation.
• Work with service partners, travel to customer locations, and train technicians on service tools and processes.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional embedded systems experience, including 3+ years in new product introduction.
• Hands-on electronics and high-voltage experience up to 100V+, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, CAN analyzers, and HV PPE.
• Working knowledge of CAN, CAN FD, SPI, and Vector tools, plus basic SQL and Python skills.
• Understanding of powertrain, charging, BMS, motor and inverter concepts, charger protocols, and charging safety interlocks.
• Experience with DVP&R, reproducible test cases, revision tracking, fault tracing, and verification; familiarity with JIRA and Confluence.
