Accounting Manager (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Torrance, California; the facility is expected to move to Hawthorne, California in summer. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders).

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 base salary plus equity.

What you will do

• Own the monthly close cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations, and GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Develop cost accounting processes covering standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation for manufactured electromechanical components.
• Maintain FAR/DFARS-compliant cost accounting structures, including cost pools and indirect rate structures, and support DCAA audit readiness.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer invoicing, vendor payments, and cash flow monitoring.
• Partner with the CFO on budgeting, rolling forecasts, and financial analysis.
• Coordinate audits and tax work while improving accounting systems, controls, policies, and workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a management or lead capacity.
• Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS cost accounting standards, indirect rate structures, and DCAA audit processes.
• Hands-on standard costing and inventory accounting experience in manufacturing, with a strong command of GAAP.
• Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or a similar ERP, plus advanced Excel skills.
• U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Exposure to stock option accounting, 409A valuations, and QSBS considerations.
• Experience managing accounting across multiple entities or facilities.
• Participation in ERP selection or implementation at a growing company.
