Senior Cost Accountant (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Onsite 4–5 days per week in Denver, CO or Long Beach, CA; U.S. ITAR eligibility required

Salary: $95,000–$155,000 base salary annually, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Own non-labor program costs across systems, ensuring complete and accurate cost data throughout project lifecycles.
• Track, validate, report, and analyze program costs, including variance drivers, budgets, estimates at completion, and forecasts.
• Own end-to-end inventory accounting for raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods.
• Establish inventory controls, reconciliations, scalable cost accounting processes, and internal controls with Supply Chain, Operations, and Program Management.
• Improve cost flows and close-cycle efficiency while supporting monthly financial statements, program reporting, and the annual audit.
• Support accounting for covered contracts under CAS, FAR compliance, and DCAA audit readiness, and advise cross-functional stakeholders on cost matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of relevant accounting experience focused on project, cost, or program accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and project-based cost structures.
• Experience owning inventory accounting processes and partnering with Supply Chain and Operations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, ownership, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorization under ITAR.

Nice to have

• CPA or CMA certification.
• Government contract accounting, FAR/CAS standards, and DCAA compliance experience.
• Aerospace and defense experience.
• NetSuite experience.
