What you will do

  • Design mechanical and electromechanical systems for next-generation industrial pyrolyzers, including vessels, process piping, actuators, sensors, pumps, and related subsystems.
  • Develop thermal and flow models with process engineers to inform equipment architecture and design decisions.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures and production performance gaps, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Create and execute test plans and commissioning campaigns before and after equipment installation.
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and process engineers, as well as fabricators and technicians.
  • Provide on-call production support for critical operations issues when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Experience with CAD, engineering drawings, GD&T, basic fabrication, and electromechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, sensor and actuator selection, and project requirements development.
  • Experience with DFMA and FMEA.
  • Hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and assembly experience, with willingness to work directly with pyrolysis equipment in an on-site production environment.

Nice to have

  • Onshape modeling experience.
  • Weldment design involving process piping and vessels.
  • Experience designing operations-facing industrial equipment.
  • Bulk material handling experience with conveyors, pumps, or blowers.
  • Experience with 24/7 operations.
