TL;DR
Senior Power Systems SCADA and Controls Engineer (AI Infrastructure): Building and commissioning SCADA, HMI, telemetry, and control systems for MV, HV, and EHV electrical infrastructure with an accent on grid-responsive AI workload control and Model-to-Grid operations. Focus on translating TNSP and AEMO requirements into runback schemes, load-control interfaces, operating limits, and integrated power-controller logic.

Location: Based in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia; suitable candidates may also be based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, depending on experience and ability to support the national project pipeline.

What you will do

  • Build and support control logic, SCADA/HMI screens, telemetry, and operator interfaces for Model-to-Grid power-controller functions.
  • Develop interfaces for network and protection schemes, including runback triggers, load-reduction commands, and special protection controls.
  • Translate TNSP, AEMO, and grid-connection requirements into hirify.global-side SCADA, HMI, and control logic.
  • Integrate Model-to-Grid controls with AI compute, workload-management, and load-control systems.
  • Configure, test, and commission SCADA, HMI, telemetry, gateways, RTUs, and control platforms for MV, HV, and EHV infrastructure.
  • Produce operator screens, alarm structures, point maps, control sequences, operating limits, and commissioning records.

Requirements

  • Practical experience with power systems SCADA, HMI, automation, substation control systems, or industrial power-system controls.
  • Experience with MV, HV, or EHV infrastructure, substations, utilities, or grid connections.
  • Familiarity with DNP3, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, IEC 61850, and industrial Ethernet.
  • Ability to read single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, network drawings, I/O lists, point schedules, and functional descriptions.
  • Strong troubleshooting, commissioning-support, and documentation skills.
  • Interest in applying power-systems SCADA and controls expertise to controllable AI infrastructure.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Ignition SCADA.
  • Experience with SEL relays, SEL RTACs, or similar SEL automation and control platforms.
