SCADA/BMS Engineer

Location: Remote, USA, with a preference for the San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices. Full-time onsite work is expected except for bi-weekly work-from-home Fridays, with regular travel to active sites.

What you will do

• Own the design, architecture, deployment, and maintenance of the SCADA and BMS platform across the data center portfolio.
• Build operator screens, historians, trends, alarm configurations, dashboards, reports, and reusable visualization and tag templates.
• Integrate chillers, CRAHs, switchgear, generators, UPS, ATS, and metering systems, primarily through Modbus TCP.
• Collaborate with network, security, controls, and site operations teams on OT segmentation, remote access, reliable data collection, and operational usability.
• Maintain production systems through updates, configuration control, backups, recovery, documentation, and root cause analysis.
• Support site testing, validate points and alarms, participate in an after-hours on-call rotation, and maintain standards and runbooks.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining SCADA/HMI applications in Ignition or FactoryTalk; Ignition is strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of SCADA or BMS design, programming, and maintenance experience in data centers, industrial facilities, utilities, or comparable mission-critical environments.
• Production ownership experience, including alarm tuning, historian management, backups, and live issue troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of Modbus TCP and familiarity with BACnet plus at least one of SNMP, OPC UA, DNP3, or IEC-61850.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings, one-lines, points lists, and sequences of operation, plus practical knowledge of cooling systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and redundancy.
• Willingness to travel regularly and participate in onsite work; a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, controls, or computer engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
