Systems Technician (Electro-mechanical)

Location: 100% on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, based in Menlo Park, California

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade electrolyzer test benches, including instrumentation, piping, and controls.
• Wire, install, and troubleshoot sensors, actuators, valves, pumps, and basic electronics.
• Coordinate with chemistry and systems engineering teams to resolve hardware issues and implement system upgrades.
• Document system changes and hardware modifications.
• Prepare reagents and electrolyte solutions, perform chemical analyses, and support experimental campaigns.
• Maintain safe, reliable lab operations and foster a strong lab safety culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or similar practical experience.
• Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems.
• Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, and basic electronics troubleshooting.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for assembling and repairing test-bench components.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds, work independently, and operate proactively in a dynamic environment.
• Ability and commitment to work fully on-site in Menlo Park, California.

Nice to have

• At least one year of wet-lab experience, including internships or laboratory work.
• Understanding of general chemical laboratory safety.
• Experience with Python, C, or other programming languages.

Hiring process

• Two 30-minute introductory calls with the team.
• 60-minute technical video interview, followed by a cofounder video interview.
