Operator - Hydroelectric Energy (Electrician or Millwright)

Location: On-site at the Toba hydroelectric facility in British Columbia, Canada; residence at the facility required during an 8-days-in/6-days-out schedule. Travel to and from the site is via forest service roads, with many consecutive days spent in a remote camp.

Salary: CAD 80,000–102,000 base per year, excluding benefits and potential bonuses.

What you will do

• Operate and monitor hydroelectric power generation systems through inspections, performance tracking, and accurate operational documentation.
• Set up and monitor preventative maintenance programs, including mechanical testing and equipment repairs.
• Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hydroelectric plant alarms to minimize downtime while on duty.
• Coordinate or assist specialized contractors performing maintenance and repairs.
• Support daily work planning, site operations, and overflow camp facilities for contractors and visitors.

Requirements

• Completion of training as a Red Seal Industrial Electrician or equivalent; Journeyman Industrial Electrician experience is preferred.
• Three to five years of relevant training and experience, with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Experience with troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic control systems.
• BC driver’s license in good standing; experience with four-wheel-drive vehicles and snowmobiles is required.
• Ability to work and reside at a remote camp on an 8-days-in/6-days-out schedule.
• Ability to work across indoor hydro facilities, outdoor areas, and offices, with basic computer and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with hydroelectric plant operations or instrumentation.
• Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s licence.
• Level 3 crane operator certification.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Advanced First Aid Level 3 certification.
