Senior Wafer Process Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: USA - CA - San Jose (Rose); onsite work in a wafer fabrication facility with flexible support for 24/7 manufacturing operations.

Salary: $87,550–$125,050 per year

What you will do

• Develop, qualify, and maintain compound semiconductor wafer-fabrication processes for GaAs and InP products.
• Lead process work in photolithography, plating, sputtering thin-film deposition, RIE, PECVD, and wet etch.
• Sustain and improve manufacturing processes, yields, manufacturability, and defect reduction.
• Analyze data and correlate defects with process parameters across wafer-fab areas.
• Develop SPC documentation and charts, and provide engineering analysis for process deployment and volume-manufacturing ramps.
• Collaborate with Process Development, Integration, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Design, and Production Engineering teams on process transfer and device performance.

Requirements

• BS degree in materials science, physics, electrical engineering, or a related discipline, with more than 8 years of relevant clean-room manufacturing experience.
• More than 3 years of practical experience in a production wafer-fabrication facility and high-volume manufacturing.
• Required experience with JMP or Minitab, process DOE, SPC rules, control charts, and manufacturing operations.
• Practical experience with wafer-fab processing, particularly photolithography, plating, and sputtering thin-film deposition.
• Ability to execute projects independently and collaborate effectively across cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Ability to support a flexible schedule for 24/7 fab manufacturing operations.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in materials science, electrical engineering, optics, solid-state physics, or a similar field.
• Experience fabricating III-V compound semiconductor devices, including edge-emitting lasers, vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, photodetectors, or integrated photonics devices.
• Python proficiency.
