Principal Engineer-Process (Wafer Fab)

Location: Lowell, Massachusetts, United States; onsite work in a wafer fabrication facility

Annual base salary: $75,000–$232,000, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonus payments.

What you will do

• Support wafer fab tools and processes across areas such as photo, etch, deposition, and diffusion.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in semiconductor wafer processing and provide cross-functional support.
• Create and update process specifications and qualify new equipment.
• Improve equipment and process performance, reliability, control, and repeatability.
• Lead improvement teams focused on yield, cycle time, and cost reduction.
• Monitor critical parameters with SPC and analyze and present technical data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Knowledge and experience with silicon wafer fabrication processes.
• Knowledge of SPC and DoE, plus familiarity with Six Sigma principles and methods.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including experience with 8D reports or similar methodologies.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with legacy wafer fabs using 3-inch to 6-inch wafers.
• Experience in photo or etch processes.
• Experience using AI to support research, data analysis, and data presentation.
