TL;DR
Mechanical Engineering Intern - Dropship Fall 2026 (Aerospace) (electric aviation and robotics): Supporting the design, prototyping, testing, and iteration of flight-critical mechanical components and assemblies with an accent on 3D CAD, aircraft materials, and manufacturability. Focus on investigating hardware issues from flight testing, validating environmental and performance requirements, and building hands-on solutions for aircraft systems.

Location: Alameda HQ, United States; workplace: on-site

Salary: $28 per hour

hirify.global is an aerospace startup developing electric aviation systems, autonomous aircraft, and flight-critical hardware.

What you will do

  • Support the design, prototyping, testing, and iteration of mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Validate environmental and performance requirements for aircraft parts and materials.
  • Investigate hardware issues discovered during flight testing or field operations, identify root causes, and develop solutions.
  • Create and update 3D CAD models, drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to improve build processes, tooling, and manufacturability.
  • Conduct hands-on testing, research, and analysis, then present project findings at the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, Inventor, or similar tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and willingness to work through complex technical challenges.
  • Comfort working hands-on in a shop environment, including building, testing, and iterating.
  • Preferred graduation window: Winter 2026 through Spring 2028.
  • Employment is subject to continued government authorization for access to export-controlled technology, software, and information.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to FEA, composite materials, 3D printing, CNC machining, or rapid prototyping.
  • Interest in electric aviation, robotics, mechanical design, or sustainability.
